Timothy Institute
Equipping men to teach God’s Word and Shepherd God’s People
The Timothy Institute is designed for men interested in learning how to prepare and preach gospel-centered, expository sermons, discern the callings and giftings of elder ministry, and faithfully counsel others from the Bible. Through the Timothy Institute, we desire to equip men who feel compelled to teach God's word in a more formal setting, whether that's through youth ministry, small groups/classes, pulpit opportunities, elder roles, or perhaps even a future ministry in a full-time, vocational pastorate.
These classes involve seminary-level instruction regarding the art of preaching and pastoral ministry, both in theory and practice, and in a broad level of applications. There is a high level of reading, guest and pastoral lectures, and “preaching labs” where the student has opportunities to take what he learns and present a sermon in front of his peers. Many of those who have completed the Timothy Institute classes have gone on to prepare for vocational ministry in seminary. Others have begun leading small groups or serving as elders at Laurel, and more have grown to understand and appreciate the immense responsibility of God's call to shepherd His people.
