Serve On A Ministry Team
Find your place at Laurel Baptist Church
The goal of our ministry teams is for every member to have a place to volunteer in service to the gospel as we labor together for the glory of God through Laurel Baptist Church. As a member of Laurel, prayerfully consider volunteering on one of our ministry teams. Additional opportunities for ministry are available through designated events and seasons of the year such as outreach initiatives, small group leaders, mission trips, meals for the sick, and more. We encourage you to sign up for those ministry opportunities as they are announced.

Our Ministry Philosophy
1
Membership is a prerequisite for ministry.
2
Our ministries are not detached from the context of our church.
3
Our ministries reflect our mission:
To glorify God and exalt his gospel through the preaching of God's word and the fellowship of his church.
4
Our ministries operate on spiritual gifts, not elected offices.
Ministry opportunities are appointed on spiritual maturity and gifting, not volunteerism alone.
5
Our ministries are overseen by our pastors, and coordinated by ministry directors,
who provide training, encouragement, and resources to all volunteers under their responsibility.
6
Our expectations of ministry volunteers are summarized by
devotion to the gospel, commitment to the core convictions, faithfulness to the responsibilities, and godliness in testimony.
7
Our keys to successful ministry service are
excellence, humility, love, reliability, and safety.
8
Our pastors periodically review all ministries for effectiveness and purpose.
Some ministries will have life cycles. If a ministry is no longer meeting a need, we will give it a decent burial.
9
Our pastors don't lock volunteers in permanently.
Some seasons of life demand pauses or transitions that mutually benefit both the volunteer and the church.
10
Our volunteers should first serve in areas where they are S.H.A.P.E.D. and, secondly, where they are most needed.
However, no one is ready for ministry until they are willing to humbly serve anywhere.
11
Our church ministry can't do everything for the kingdom,
but we will devote our focus to what God has given us to do.
